Traditional Acupuncture.

An array of Traditional Chinese medicine tools including acupuncture needles.

What is Traditional Acupuncture?

Traditional Acupuncture is one of the branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

What is the difference between Acupuncture and Dry Needling?

Traditional acupuncture uses a system of points which are considered to be connected through a network.   Dry needling is based on uisng trigger points to treat pain within muscles.  The traditional acupuncture points can also treat pain locally but are renowned for having powerful effects throughout the body, including helping digestion, lowering stress, and improving sleep. Today, we know that the traditional acupuncture points are located at areas of neuroanatomical importance, such as motor or sensory nerves. This accounts for their classically described functions.

What is a Traditional Acupuncture Treatment like?

Traditional acupuncture practitioners will often examine the patient's pulse and tongue, as well as palpating reflex areas to gain insight into what is happening.
